  • coffee doesn't grow in Ohio

We are on the brink of abundance for local food lovers in Cleveland, Ohio.  I know the spring weather wasn't as cooperative as our local farmers would have liked, but the veggies are still growing and we will be knee deep in local flavors for the next few months.

  • more of a good thing

The Root cafe is now operating at full summer season hours!  We open at 6:30 am on weekdays and 7 am on weekends.  And we don't close until 10 pm!!  Actually, four nights out of the week, we stay open until 11 pm so we can crank out the jams.  Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday we have music.  The musicians never want to stop and we don't want to stop listening, so we stay open an extra hour to make everyone happy!

  • Today's Special

Our kitchen turned out a really special special today.  Every part of this is made from scratch & organic.

Focciaccia bread topped with cajun style hummos, roasted red peppers, cremini & portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and citrus ricotta cheese.

  • Bikespresso

We are teaming up with Crank Set Rides and Phoenix Coffee for a day of coffee infused bike riding! We are all big advocates of cycling as a lifestyle. An important aspect of riding your bike around town is having a safe place to lock it up. Therefore, the proceeds of this event will go towards locally built bike racks, constructed by Rustbelt Welding. These racks will be placed across the Cleveland area at high bicycle traffic areas. There will also be a coffee cup holder design contest to be judged at Edgewater Park.
  • the Root's first blog

Shawn, a computer genius, and I are sitting at the bar at the Root cafe.  We are writing the first blog for this website, so this is pretty monumental. This blog entry occasion.

We have been working on this site since the Root's inception in December of 2009.  Jimmy Frysinger, of Inspired Studios, designed the site.  Shawn took over the project to develop the interface so we could easily update the site, use the blog and post pictures.  We are thrilled with the work he has done.  We hope you are, as well.
