Today's Special
Our kitchen turned out a really special special today. Every part of this is made from scratch & organic.
Focciaccia bread topped with cajun style hummos, roasted red peppers, cremini & portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and citrus ricotta cheese.
The arugula was grown by Ryan Kennedy, who is the proprietor of Turning Point Farm on Barber Road in Cleveland. He is very excited to have brought us his first harvest of the season: mizuna and arugula. The Root cafe is so lucky to have such a strong connection to the food we serve.
Ryan and his wife, Katie, are regular customers of the Root. They love the Root so much, they even used our color scheme when painting the interior of their house. Their lifestyle is completely reflective of their love for living in Cleveland. Ryan is an avid bicyclist, getting all over our city on his two wheels. Katie's wedding ring is made of glass they found when tilling the soil of their farm. The ring is a sparkling symbol of urban art and sustainability. Ryan's greatest pleasure in farming is seeing his food being used to feed the community of Lakewood through the Root cafe. We are honored to have him as a customer, farmer and friend.
For more information on Ryan's farm, see their facebook page!
